Summer's End Leads to STEM

Summer flew by for many.
As much as I love my summer days, I was very excited to begin another year at Peck Place.
That's because The Peck Place Math Quarters kept quite busy over the summer designing and planning a multitude of events, lessons and activities for this school year.

Peck Place School hosted the first (hopefully annual) Family STEM Night.
What is STEM?
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

It is important for our students to engage in STEM activities and lessons.

We were privileged to have the CT STEM Academy provide a multitude of hands-on activities for our students.
With over 100 students attending STEM Night they were able to:

build rockets and launch them

conduct buoyancy trials

control a Sphero robot with a Smartphone/iPad device

design and construct a bridge

build and explore catapults

program "robots" with Sharpie

design structures

make super paper airplanes

building towers

and so much more...

Many thanks to all who came to Family STEM Night! Hope to see you again next year.
